The vision of the Nansen Scientific Society is that education and research within global environment and climate problems, including their impacts on society for students and young scientists from different countries and cultures will provide a foundation for greater understanding and co-existence in the word - in Nansen's spirit

    Fridtjof Nansen was a Norwegian born in Oslo in 1861 and was the first man to lead a small expedition across the Greenland Ice Sheet during the summer of 1888, and in 1893 he explored the Arctic Ocean using a specially built, strong ship, the FRAM, by freezing her in ice on the Eastern coast of Siberia and drifting across the Transpolar Current.
